Linden Earns Pac-10 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington's Todd Linden has been named the Pacific-10 Conference's first Baseball Player of the Week for the 2000 season, commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Arizona State left-hander Jon Switzer earned the Pitcher of the Week Award after beating Louisiana State.

Linden, an outfielder from Bremerton, Wash. (Central Kitsap), batted .750 (12-for-16) over five games last week. The sophomore switch-hitter also collected six runs, two doubles, a triple, three homers and 11 runs batted in. At one point, he reached base in 11 straight plate appearances and finished the weekend having reached on 16-of-20 trips to the plate, good for an on-base average of .800. He also managed throw out two runners from the outfield.

Washington (1-4) returns to action this week when it opens the home schedule vs. Gonzaga. Friday, the Huskies and Bulldogs play at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, it's a noon doubleheader and the two teams close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
