SEATTLE - The Washington baseball team earned the No. 24 spot in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's preseason "Fabulous 40" college baseball poll.

The Huskies are one of six Pacific-10 Conference teams to make the top 40, along with No. 3 USC, No. 8 Stanford, No. 16 UCLA, No. 26 Arizona and No. 27 Arizona State.

Washington, which posted a 41-17 record last season, finished No. 13 in Collegiate Baseball's final poll of the 1998 season.

The Huskies open the season Feb. 11 vs. Brigham Young at the BYU Tournament in St. George, Utah.
