SEATTLE, Wash. - Senior men's rower Mike Chait today was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team for the second consecutive year, one of six Huskies to earn first-team honors. Chait was joined on the list by fellow senior Whit Hammond, while seniors Lindsey Horton, Theresa Nygren-Birkholz and Sabina Telenska, and sophomore Anna Mickelson each earned first-team honors on the women's side.

Chait (3.77 GPA) and Hammond (3.20) rowed on the men's varsity eight squad which placed 4th at the IRA National Championships in Camden, N.J. earlier this month. Horton (3.11), Nygren-Birkholz (3.56), Telenska(3.06), and Mickelson (3.69) were each members of the women's varsity eight boat, ranked No. 1 all spring before being upset by Brown at the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships in May.

Six other husky women earned second-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors. Sophomore varsity rower Mary Whipple (3.11) and junior varsity rowers Noelle Anderson (3.02), Romany McNamara (3.54), Kara Nykriem (3.41), Kim Oates (3.16) and Jenny Vesnaver (3.16) were all honored.

The women's varsity eight will compete this weekend in the Henley Royal Regatta at Henley-on-Thames, England. Resutls will be posted after the races both Saturday and Sunday.

In other news, the Pac-10 Conference also announced the All-Academic teams for men's and women's golf, with sophomore Kelli Kamimura earning honorable mention.
