Seattle - Three members of the Washington football team have been granted medical hardship waivers by the Pac-10 Conference for the 1999 season. The players are freshman quarterback Cody Pickett, junior defensive end Ryan Julian and junior tight end John Westra.

All three players appeared in contests during in 1999, but the season will not count toward their eligibility after they received the waivers. Westra, a tight end, played in the first two games of the season before being sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee that required reconstructive surgery. Julian, a defensive end, made two tackles in 1999 but did not appear after the Colorado (Sept. 25) game due to chronic tendinitis in his knees. Pickett's only game appearance came at Oregon State. He was sidelined during the season with a lower back strain.

Pickett has been cleared to participate in practice when the Huskies resume spring drills on March 30. Julian and Westra may see limited participation during the spring period.
