Seattle - Five members of Washington's 2001 Rose Bowl championship team will be playing in college all-star games over the next two weeks. Husky quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo will be joined by offensive guard Chad Ward at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
The holder of 11 Washington offensive records, Tuiasosopo was named the MVP of this year's Rose Bowl and was voted the Pac-10 Conference's most outstanding offensive player by the league's coaches. Ward, also a first-team all-conference choice, was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press.
The Senior Bowl will also feature the quarterbacks from this year's BCS Championship game in Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke of Florida State and Josh Heupel from Oklahoma's national championship squad. This year's Senior Bowl will take place on Jan. 21 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
A trio of Washington players are included on the roster for the 2001 East-West Shrine game to be played at Stanford Stadium on Jan. 14. Offensive tackle Elliot Silvers will be joined by fullback Pat Conniff and outside linebacker Jeremiah Pharms.
