WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina-Wilmington shot 67 percent in the second half and held Washington's starting guards to 1-of-19 shooting to beat the Huskies 68-59 on Thursday night.
Victor Ebong scored 17 points for the Seahawks (4-1). Barron Thelmon scored 16, Brett Blizzard added 13 and Ramond Perine had 10.
UNCW led 55-44 midway through the second half, but Washington (2-3) went on a 11-0 run to tie the score at 55-55.
Ebong then hit a free throw and two field goals to give UNCW a 60-57 lead with 2:18 remaining. Perine then hit a 3-pointer, and the Seahawks held off the Huskies down the stretch.
The Huskies led 16-13 in the first half before North Carolina-Wilmington went on a 16-2 run to take a 29-18 lead. Washington responded with a 10-2 run of its own to cut the deficit to 31-28 at halftime.
