OJAI, CA -- Junior Eric Drew, one of four members of Washington's 20th-ranked men's tennis team competing at the men's Pac-10 Tennis Championships, is the lone Husky remaining after Day One of competition in Ojai, Calif. Robert Kendrick, ranked 44th in the nation, won his first-round match but fell in his second-round affair while Sasha Rampazzo and Marius Lunde each lost in the first-round.
Drew, ranked 60th in the nation, defeated Arizona's Mike Mackay, 6-2, 6-1 to improve his overall record to 18-8. Drew faces 11th-ranked Mike Bryan from Stanford tomorrow morning in the second-round. Kendrick defeated Cal's Adrian Barnes 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 in the first-round but fell to 30th-ranked Ryan Wolters of Stanford in the second-round, 6-2, 6-1.
In Pac-10 Invitational singles play, Mark Woolley defeated Oregon's Jonah Sandford by the scores of 6-2, 6-2. Jeremy Berman and Chuck Tille each lost their respective matches in the first-round. No score was available for the match between Nick Quatrochi and UCLA's Chris Sands.
