Seattle - Washington women's rower Anna Mickelson (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) has been named to the USRowing 2000 Collegiate Honor Roll First Team after a stellar sophomore season in which helped lead the Husky women's rowing team to a silver medal at the NCAA Championships.
A communications major, Mickelson finished her sophomore year with a 3.69 cumulative grade point average. She was also named to the All-Pac-10 Academic First Team.
Mickelson, who rows in the four-seat in the UW eight, recently completed her sophomore year Washington and was a member of the top-ranked Husky women's varsity eight. The crew finished second at the NCAA Championships in May, suffering its only loss of the season at the year-end regatta. The crew followed that with its first-ever trip to the Henley Royal Regatta, where the Huskies won the inaugural women's open eight, claiming the Henley Prize. In July, Mickelson stroked the U.S. women's four without coxswain to a gold medal at the Nation's Cup Regatta Under-23 National Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in both academics and rowing, as well as participated in extra curricular activities. Applicants must be USRowing members, hae rowed or coxed in a men's or women's priority open or lightweight boat that raced at a league championship, have completed four semesters of academic work, and have earned a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average. The 2000 recipients were selected by the seven-member USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll Selection Committee.
