WALLA WALLA, WA -- The Washington women's tennis team extended their win-streak to six with a 6-3 win over Washington State. With this victory the Huskies improved their record to 7-2. The Huskies are ranked 61st by the latest ITA poll.
Washington guaranteed the victory early by winning five out of six singles matches. The Huskies were led by No.1 singles player Kristina Kraszewski. The freshman, ranked 36th by the latest ITA poll, easily defeated Washington State's Patrycja Gajdzik 6-0, 6-2. This win gives Kraszewski a seven-game winning streak and raises her record to 17-4.
Other Husky win-streaks are owned by sophomores Zuzana Stunova and Zeta Wagner. Stunova, ranked 31st in the nation, defeated WSU's Tunde Nagy 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in No.2 singles to raise her streak to six. Stunova carries a 17-5 record. In No. 5 singles, Wagner posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over WSU's Tamara Filipovic. Wagner remains undefeated in dual- match play with a win-streak of nine and an 11-4 overall record.
