Cuba Scores Two in Ninth, Huskies Lose 6-5
HAVANA, Cuba -Washington's Michael Done hit a solo homerun in the top of the ninth to give the Huskies a brief 5-4 lead over Ciudad Havana. Cuba's Donal Linares would then hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth, driving in two runs, and beating the Huskies 6-5. Washington is now 2-2 on the five-game road trip.
Tyler Shepple pitched three scoreless innings as the starter and was followed by Scott Robertson and Cam McCoy, each of whom pitched one scoreless inning. Tila Reynolds, Bryan Johnson, and Mike Wagner carried the Husky bats with two hits apiece.
The Huskies will play their final game tomorrow, which will be a split-squad game. In that contest, the two teams will consist of half Huskies and half Cubans. The team returns to Seattle early on the morning of Friday, Sept. 8.
