THIS WEEK: The Pac-10 champion Washington Huskies (3-0) travel to San Diego for the San Diego Baseball Classic, with games at both San Diego State University (Tony Gwynn Stadium) and the University of San Diego. No. 10-ranked Washington will try to extend its unbeaten start after having gone 3-0 at the Space Coast Invitational in Viera, Fla., last weekend. Thursday, the Huskies play two games -- one against New Mexico at 10 a.m. and one vs. San Diego at 8 p.m. (both at Tony Gwynn). Friday, the Huskies take on Minnesota at USD at 10 a.m. Saturday, it's Washington vs. UC Santa Barbara at Tony Gwynn at 2 p.m. The five-game weekend wraps up Sunday with a 2 p.m. game at Tony Gwynn against host San Diego State. The following weekend, the Dawgs christen the new Husky Ballpark with a three-game series against Gonzaga.

SERIES HISTORY: Washington has played all five of the teams it will face this weekend in San Diego, and all within the last five seasons. UW is 3-3 all-time against New Mexico, and beat the Lobos in Hawaii last season, 9-5. UW is 2-0 vs. USD, last winning a single game from the Toreros during a trip to San Diego in 1994. Against Minnesota, the Huskies are 1-3 all-time, but beat the Gophers last year in the Metrodome, 9-1. UCSB has won seven of eight against the Dawgs, with the most recent meeting a Gaucho win in 1995 at Santa Barbara. Finally, San Diego State holds a 7-3 mark against the UW, but the Dawgs won the last meeting, also in 1994, the year the Huskies began the year 10-0. Ken Knutson is 2-2 vs. New Mexico; 1-0 vs. San Diego; 1-0 vs. Minnesota; 0-1 vs. UC Santa Barbara and 1-0 vs. San Diego State.
