SEATTLE, Wash. -- Washington rowers Bob Cummins and Kari Green have been named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic teams, commissioner Tom Hansen announced. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be a significant contributor to the team.

Green, a graduate of Bellevue High School, rowed in the bow seat on the womens varsity eight that claimed a second consecutive NCAA Championship this season. The varsity won its grand final at the championships on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Ga. May 31, to secure the team title for Washington. The Husky varsity boat was undefeated in collegiate competition for the second straight year.

Cummins, a graduate of Everett High School, recently completed his collegiate career as a member of the varsity eight crew which finished second at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships last week. The Husky varsity suffered just its second loss since 1996, when Princeton edged the UW crew by two seat lengths in the grand final of the Varsity Challenge Cup, May 30 in Pensauken, New Jersey. Cummins, who strokes the varsity boat, helped lead the Huskies to the IRA Championship and an undefeated season in 1997.
