Box Score

BERKELEY, Calif.--The Washington men's and women's track teams finished eighth and ninth respectively at the Pac-10 Championships in Berkeley, Calif., which concluded Sunday afternoon.

Leading the Huskies during Sunday's competition were Washington seniors Anna Aoki and David Bazzi, who each earned respective Pac-10 10,000-meter crowns Saturday evening, finished third in the 5,000-meter runs in times of 16:33.44 and 14:12.04 respectively.

Junior Marcus Kelly (Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS) finished third in the men1s triple jump competition with a leap of 49-8, while junior Joel Perry (Deming, Wash.) tied for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 6-11.

Senior sprinter Ja'Warren Hooker finished fourth in the 100m dash in 10.51. Hooker said he was pleased with his performance.

"I am happy with how I ran," Hooker said. "Everything is just starting to feel good again, after being off for five weeks."

Hooker scratched in the 200-meter dash because of tightness in his quadracep and thus the 4x400-meter relay team including Hooker also scratched.

Other finishers for the Huskies were the 4x100m relay team of Hooker, D'Andrae Alexander, Greg Forni and Brad Goodrich, which finished fifth overall, along with senior Sean Steele who took seventh in the final high jump event of his Washington career.

Sophomore Tyriff Rudder took ninth in the triple jump for UW, while Dustin Duke and Jason Fayant took 10th and 12th in the 1500 and 5000m respectively.

On the women1s side, the 4x400m relay team of Tesha Moore, Chelsie Pentz, Devin Golob and Kelsey Sheppard finished fifth in 3:47.00, while sophomore Gillian Palmer (Edinburgh, Scotland) nabbed seventh in the 1500 in a season-best 4:24.62. The women1s 4x100 relay team also took seventh for UW.

Freshman Alexis Jaime (Laguna Hills, Calif.) recorded a personal-best 11-7 1/4 in the pole vault Sunday.

The UW men finished in eight place at the championships with 42 points, while Stanford took the men1s title with 142 points. The Husky women took ninth overall with 33 points. UCLA won the women1s team title with 155 points.
