Cal Sneaks By Huskies On Senior Day

Final Stats

SEATTLE - Washington clinched the series on Friday vs. Cal but it was the Golden Bears who took game three, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon at Husky Softball Stadium.

No. 12/11 UW finished the regular season with a 38-15 record and currently in a tie for second at 16-8 in the Pac-12 (depending on the outcome of the ASU-Oregon game UW could end in a tie for second or solely in third).

At the conclusion of the game the Huskies honored the three seniors on the 2013 teams: Shawna Wright, Jerrin Fa'asua and Lindsay Monk.

Cal, No. 17/20 in the major polls, snapped its nine-game losing streak to improve to 36-17, 10-14. Player of the Year finalist Jolene Henderson notched her 30th win of the season in her first complete game since getting injured on April 21.

The Huskies outhit the Bears, 9-6, with junior Kaitlin Inglesby (Portland, Ore.) earning three of those. Inglesby took the loss in the circle (21-7), allowing three runs on five hits in 5.0 innings.

Junior Bryana Walker (La Quinta, Calif.) pitched a solid 2.0 innings in relief, not allowing a single hit or run.

Washington took the early 1-0 lead in the first as Inglesby scored on a single by sophomore Kylee Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.).

Cal took the lead in the second as Danielle Henderson singled up the middle and scored on a two-run home run by Breana Kostreba.

The Bears got the game-winning run n the top of the third as Khala Taylor reached on a single and scored on a triple to left by Danielle Henderson for a 3-1 lead.

Washington got one back in the bottom half of the inning as Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.) singled and scored on a single down the right field line by Inglesby.

The Huskies had two runners thrown out at the plate from left field: Hayward in the first and Hooch Fagaly in the fifth.
