SALT LAKE CITY - The Washington offense continued to put up some big numbers at Utah in game three of the series as the No. 13/12 Huskies (36-14, 14-7) took the series with the 12-3 win in five innings over the Utes (24-29, 7-17).
The Huskies belted 11 hits in the game with two each from juniors Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.), Whitney Jones (Upland, Calif.).
Washington took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first with two outs. Inglesby singled, Kylee Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.) drew a walk and Kimberlee Souza (Waialua, Hawai'i) was hit by pitch to load the bases. Senior Shawna Wright (Lancaster, Calif.) drew a walk driving in the first RBI. Jones singled to left driving in two more.
The second inning was even bigger at the plate for Washington as six runs came across the plate. Junior Kelli Suguro (Kent, Wash.) walked and scored along with Hayward on a double by Fagaly. An Inglesby single drove in the third run of the inning and a Souza double brought in two more. A Jones single drove in the sixth run of the frame.
A three-run home run by Lahners in the third capped the UW scoring for the game.
Utah got one run in each of the first, second and fourth innings.
Junior Bryana Walker (La Quinta, Calif.) earned the complete game shutout, allowing three runs on six hits.
Utah used three pitchers in the game with starter Naomi Amu taking the loss.
Washington hosts Cal May 9-11 in Seattle for Senior Weekend.
