2012 (Cross Country): Ran in the Husky top-seven three times, including at the Pac-12 and West Regional Championship meets ... closed his fall with a career-best 59th-place finish at the West Regional meet in Seattle, placing sixth among Huskies in 30:41 for 10k ... seventh on the squad at Pac-12s, finishing 52nd overall ... started the season off with a ninth-place effort, fifth on the squad, at the Sundodger Invitational, clocking 24:18 ... picked up Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2011-12: Track season was limited due to injury ... ran just twice outdoors, both in the 800-meters, with a best of 1:55.34 at the Pepsi Team Invitational ... indoors, had a mile PR of 4:10.93 at the UW Invitational ... earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention ... (Cross Country): One of the top runners on the squad in his second full season ... had his best race at the inaugural Pac-12 Championships in Arizona, placing 27th overall and second among Huskies in a time of 24:03 ... the Pac-12 finish was an improvement of 22 spots from the previous year ... also was the second UW finisher at the Wisconsin Invitational, placing 88th overall in the massive field ... had a fall at NCAA Regionals and wound up 113th overall as the fifth Husky finisher in 31:46 for the 10k ... work in the classroom netted Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2010-11: Impressive first season after redshirting the previous year ... qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the 800-meters, on the strength of his PR of 1:49.83 set at the UW-WSU dual meet where he took second ... did not have a great day at West Prelims, finishing 45th overall in 1:57.83 ... at the Oregon Relays, ran a 1,500-meter season-best of 3:50.78 to take sixth ... opened with a 1,500m run of 3:53.25 at the Stanford Invitational, taking second in the third section ... competed at his first Pac-10 Championships, placing 16th overall in the 1,500-meters ... ran just twice indoors, starting with a victory in the 800-meters at the UW Indoor Preview in a time of 1:52.37 ... did not run again until the MPSF Championships, where he was 14th in the 3,000-meters in 8:12.51 ... (Cross Country): Had a big impact in his first official cross country season, scoring for the Huskies at five of six meets during the fall ... was Washington's No. 5 runner at NCAA West Regionals in his first 10k, placing 61st overall to help UW to sixth ... ran at his first Pac-10 Championships, placing 49th in 24:48 at Jefferson Park Golf Course ... made the travel party for the first time for the Notre Dame Invite, and was the second Husky across, finishing 74th overall ... fifth among Huskies at the Sundodger Invite, clocking an 8k PR of 24:32 to place 13th ... started the year with a fifth-place effort in the UW-WSU dual, fourth among Huskies, aiding the team win.
2009-10: Redshirted his first season indoors and outdoors, competing unattached on four occasions ... ran a 4:23.97 mile in the UW Final Qualifier indoors ... (Cross Country): Redshirted his first college season to preserve eligibility ... competed twice unattached, starting with a 16th-place effort at the Sundodger in 24:47 ... was the second-place finisher at the Emerald City Open, running 26:33 on the hilly Woodland Park course.
High School and Personal: Born in Los Alamos, New Mexico ... parents are Margot and Paul Gilna ... the youngest of four children, all of whom have run in college ... older brother Simon currently runs as a junior at Northern Arizona ... older sister Naomi ran for Gonzaga and competed at UW's Sundodger Invitational, while oldest brother Matthew ran for USC ... swept the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m at the New Mexico 4A State Championships as a senior, only the second runner to ever pull off the feat, and was chosen as a Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" for his efforts ... second at the state cross country meet as a senior, and was also seventh as a junior and fourth as a sophomore ... team won state xc title as a junior ... placed 18th at Nike Team Nationals in Portland as a junior in 2007 after finishing 62nd at the same meet as a sophomore.
