No. 10/10 Oregon 4,
March 29 - Seattle, Wash. - Husky Softball Stadium
SEATTLE - The Huskies took their first lead of the series in the fifth inning of game two, but the No. 10/10 Oregon Ducks (28-4, 5-0) fought back to take the game 4-2 on Friday evening.
Washington (24-10, 2-3) was down 1-0 after four on a RBI double to left center by Kaylan Howard.
The Huskies got two in the bottom of the fifth and on error by the Oregon third baseman. Sophomore Kylee Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.) led off the inning with a walk. Junior Kelli Suguro (Kent, Wash.) singled and pinch runner Marki Creger-Zier (Steilacoom, Wash.) advanced to third on an error.
Suguro stole second and freshman Jennie McNeill (Simi Valley, Calif.) drew a walk. With two outs and the bases loaded for junior Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.), she popped up in the pitchers circle with what looked to be a routine play, but miscommunication by the Oregon defense caused the ball to drop and two Husky runs to score.
Oregon came back and sealed the game in the sixth after a bunt single, a two-run home run by Howard and an RBI double by Janelle Lindvall.
Junior Bryana Walker (La Quinta, Calif.) took the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits in the complete game.
Oregon freshman Cheridan Hawkins pitched the complete game in the win for Oregon.
The final game of the series will be played on Saturday at noon. Live stats and audio/video streaming will be available for free at www.gohuskies.com.
