Washington Head Coach June Daugherty
Opening Statement: "We are excited being able to beat a good team that was 10-1. It was a great win for us and I feel like it was a total team effort all the way around for forty minutes. We had some people that stepped up off the bench for us tonight, but them being ready because of the foul trouble and to be able to play at that level really means a lot to us. We don't have much time to celebrate with the Pac-10 around the corner, but this was a great win."
On physical game: "It was a very physical game, but we expected that coming from their conference. They are a very physical and very athletic group of young ladies and they played hard. You can't be 10-1 at this point in the season and not play like that."
On satisfaction with win: "This could have been our best game of the season, but after I watch the tape I am sure that I will get mad at a lot of things. The thing I really like is the total team effort. The starters really set the tone for us and we showed what we are capable of with our depth."
On overall performance: "We forced a lot of turnovers. That is part of our identity that we feel that we are all about, pressuring the other team. We are going to trap and try to outwork you on the boards. Honestly, the boards were what was huge for us. They came into the game with a plus 19 rebounding margin and that is a scary number. I lost sleep over that last night, but we talked about it as a team and we are really trying to improve on the rebounding ourselves."
On Andrea Plouffe: "It was interesting to watch her watch the scouting tape and have to look at a huge front line in Florida State. They are bigger and more athletic than last year. She is so crafty about using the rim. How many players do you see use the rim to protect their shot the way that she can with either hand? I think it fires her up to play against that kind of competition and she plays so smart. There aren't a lot of women that can do what Andrea does the way that she uses the iron to avoid getting her shot blocked."
Washington Guard Cameo Hicks
On team energy: "I thought that we came out very energized and I think that is something that we have really improved upon this year. The past four games especially we have really stepped it up."
On Florida State's size: "I don't think that we were really concerned coming in. We thought that we would be okay because we have girls like Andrea (Plouffe) out there. Our whole team has smart players and we know how to work around it."
On Florida State in comparison to the Pac-10: "This team is a really good team and it was a lot of fun playing against them. They were really physical and I think they can resemble a Pac-10 team because they are physical."
Washington Guard Emily Florence
On physical game: "It gets us fired up, especially at home because you have the home fans there to support you. It gets us fired up for the other four girls on the floor because they get excited for you and let you know that they have your back."
On Florida State in comparison to the Pac-10: "We are a really experienced team and for a lot of girls on our team this is their last year, so they are going to give it their all. I am excited for this team because of all that experience and we want to make it a good one."
