Bishop Sankey, who set a Washington record with 1,870 rushing yards last fall, was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 54th overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday.

Sankey is the second Husky selected as Austin Seferian-Jenkins went to the Buccaneers earlier in the second. Sankey was the first running back taken in the draft.

An Ohio native who came to the UW from Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, Wash., Sankey set a long list of impressive records in his three-year college career. Last season, he broke not only the rushing yards record but also the school mark for yards per game (143.8) and rushing attempts (327). Additionally, he broke the marks for career rushing touchdowns (37) and single-game rushing attempts (40) while tying three other school records: career touchdowns (38), career 200-yard rushing games (4) and single-season 200-yard rushing games (3).

One of three finalists for the 2013 Doak Walker Award, Sankey was named a second-team All-America by the Associated Press, Walter Camp and the Football Writers, while earning third-team honors from Athlon. He was also a first-team All-Pac-12 and second-team Academic All-Pac-12 pick. He finished the season fourth in the nation in rushing yards, rushing yards per game and carries, as well as sixth in rushing touchdowns.

As a sophomore in 2012, he rushed for 1,439 yards, then the third-highest total in UW history.

Sankey will join former UW quarterback Jake Locker in Nashville.
