LA QUINTA, Calif. – Coming off a runner-up finish at the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawai’i, the Dawgs will face another elite field at the Prestige at PGA West. Washington will tee it up beginning Monday, Feb. 17, for the three-day, 54-hole tournament.
No. 17 Washington joins co-host No. 11 Stanford, No. 22 USC and No. 23 UCLA as top-25 teams in the field. Arizona State, LSU, Texas Tech, Oregon, San Diego State, co-host UC Davis, Pepperdine and the University of Stirling from Scotland make up the rest of the field.
The tournament will be played at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West, which plays as a 7,096-yard par 72. Last year, Washington finished the tournament at 1-under 851 for the week, which tied USC for the tournament title.
In last year’s tournament, Chris Williams led the Dawgs at 3-under for the week finishing in a tie for second. Cheng-Tsung Pan also had a top-10, finishing at 1-under for the tournament.
Pan is back this season to lead the Dawgs with a lineup that includes Trevor Simsby, Chris Babcock, Gerrit Chambers and Corey Periera. Simsby also has experience at the Prestige at PGA West, finishing 17th last season.
Washington earned the runner-up finish last week at Waikaloa behind a 20th-place finish from Pan. Babcock was actually the top finisher, placing tied for ninth, but was playing as an individual. He earned a spot in the Husky lineup this week, however.
The Dawgs will tee off beginning at 10:15 a.m., playing with San Diego State and Arizona State. Golfstat.com will have live scoring each hole throughout the event.
