2015 All-Region in Cross Country
2015 (Cross Country): Ran in the Husky top-five all fall to help Washington finish eighth at the NCAA Championships, its second-best finish in program history … at the national championships, placed 100th overall as the No. 4 Husky finisher, an improvement of 116 spots from the previous year … was the No. 5 Husky at the West Regional Championships, which UW won for the first time in school history, placing 22nd overall to earn All-Region honors … also finished 22nd at the Pac-12 Championships, third on the squad, in a time of 23:48 to help UW place fourth … was the fifth Husky at the Wisconsin Invitational, in 134th-place overall … fastest 8k of the year at the Washington Invite, running 23:42 to finish 21st overall as the No. 2 Husky … opened the season finishing third at the Sundodger Invite in 24:10, second among Dawgs … named a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2014-15 (Track): Redshirted the track season but ran some excellent races unattached … at the Payton Jordan Invitational, ran a 5,000-meters PR of 13:50.10 that would have ranked as the No. 3 time in school history had it been run in uniform … also broke 14-minutes at the Stanford Invitational, as he crossed in 13:58.37 … ran another PR in the 1,500-meters at the Ken Shannon Invite, finishing in 3:46.82 … indoors, ran once unattached at the UW Indoor Preview, going 8:08.38 for 3,000-meters ... (Cross Country): Raced five times in his first college season, twice unattached and then the final three postseason races in uniform … competed at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, finishing 216th overall and sixth on the squad … also was sixth on the team at West Regionals, finishing 56th overall in 30:38 over the 10k course … made his official debut at the Pac-12 Championships in Oakland, placing 51st overall and eighth on the team in 24:59 … running unattached, got a win at the Emerald City Open at Woodland Park, finishing in 25:34 … placed 10th at the season-opening Sundodger Invite in 24:28 ... after the collegiate season, he took eighth at the U.S. Junior Cross Country Championships, qualifying him for the Pan Am Junior XC Championships, where he finished eighth in Colombia.
High School and Personal: Born in San Francisco, Calif. … parents are Leslie Holpit and Fred Huxham … has one younger brother, Theo, who plays soccer for the San Jose Earthquakes developmental system … One of the top distance runners in the state of California, he won the CIF state title at 3,200-meters as a senior, running a PR of 8:54.24 in the finals, the 14th-fastest time in the nation … also won the North Coast title and the NCS Meet of Champions title at 3,200-meters in 2014 … ran at the Brooks PR Invite, taking ninth in the mile in 4:10.53 … also ran the mile at the 2014Stanford Invitational, winning in 4:15.80 … took fourth at the 2013 CIF Div. III state cross country championships and was second in the North Coast Section … also was a top-five state finisher as a junior, taking third overall and fourth at the Stanford Invitational that year … took third in the 3,000-meters at the 2013 Stanford Invitational on the track, running 8:38.15 … ran in the Dempsey in 2013 at the UW Indoor Open, running 4:19.95 for the mile … coached by Laura Schmitt, mother of former Husky Jake Schmitt, who was a volunteer coach … named the Marin County Athletic League Athlete of the Year in 2014 and the MCAL Runner of the Year for cross country in 2013.
