SEATTLE - Every college distance runner goes through some peaks and valleys in the course of a career; Washington's own Megan Goethals is living proof of that. Goethals, who has yet to compete this season due to a stress fracture, has excelled at the highest level, winning conference titles and earning eight All-America honors. But she has also had to persevere through injuries, mental hurdles, and recently her mother's cancer diagnosis.
Goethals' remarkable story was told today on ESPN.com by feature writer Devon Heinen (@DevonHeinen), who talked with Goethals, and Husky coaches Greg Metcalf and Lauren Denfeld.
