SEATTLE -- No. 2 Washington continued its strong play at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, finishing as the tournament runner-up. The Dawgs finished the three rounds at 26-over 890, trailing only the tournament champion Stanford by 27 strokes.

The Dawgs finished Wednesday’s third round at 12-over 300 to finish eight strokes clear of third place Oregon. The Ducks had been tied with Washington coming into the final round.

Washington was paced by SooBin Kim who finished fourth overall at 3-over 219. Kim finished her final round with a 2-over 74, but played much better than her score with four birdies and just two bogeys. Kim ran into trouble on the par-3 ninth when she hit and ball in the water and had an unplayable to take a quadruple-bogey seven.

Also with a top-10 finish was freshman Eimi Koga who came back from a poor opening round to shoot 67 in the afternoon on Tuesday and backed it up with a 4-over 76 in the final round. Koga finished tied for seventh with a 54-hole total of 7-over 223 in her first collegiate tournament.

Finishing in a tie for 14th were Charlotte Thomas and Ying Luo. Thomas had Washington’s low final round, posting a score of 1-over 73. Luo shot a 77 on Wednesday to finish tied with Thomas with a 54-hole total of 8-over 224.

Finally, Monica Huang finished her tournament with a round of 81. She tied for 57th with a three-round total of 28-over 244.

Playing as an individual Cyd Okino tied the low final round of Thomas with a 73. She finished tied for 16th at 9-over 225 for the tournament.

Washington’s other individual Kelli Bowers was forced to withdraw with a back injury.

Next up for the Dawgs is the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 25-27. The three-day tournament at the Stanford Golf Course will be another elite field with several of the same teams. The Huskies complete their fall schedule in Kona, Hawai’i, on Nov. 4-5 at the Pac-12 Preview.
