SPOKANE, Wash. - Trevor Dunlap pitched three and two-thirds of scoreless relief for the win as the UW baseball team beat 21st-ranked Gonzaga, 6-2, Tuesday at the Patterson Baseball Complex.

The win was the Huskies' third over a ranked team in their last four games as Washington (12-26) beat then-No. 5 Oregon State in two of three games last weekend. Gonzaga (26-12-1) had won 11 in a row before dropping a game at Pepperdine Sunday.

Camporeale, a senior from Littleton, Colo., gave the Huskies the lead for good in the first when he belted a two-run homer. Dunlap (2-3), who came on in the fourth and got out of a bases-loaded jam allowing only one run, got the win. He struck out four and gave up just three hits.

After two quick outs in the top of the first, Robert Pehl reached on a single. Michael Camporeale followed by belting a pitch the opposite way for his fourth homer of the season, staking the Dawgs to a 2-0 lead.

In the second, UW catcher Ryan Wiggins led off with a double and scored on a two-out single from senior Ty Afenir to make it a 3-0 Husky lead.

In the fourth, the Bulldogs loaded the bases on a single and a pair of walks. Freshman starter Trevor Dunlap came on for Rallings and delivered ball four, forcing in a run for the Bulldogs. However, Dunlap got a strikeout and a fly out to leave the bases loaded and end the threat with the UW on top, 3-1.

The Huskies extended their lead in the seventh. After loading the bases on a single from Joe Meggs, a double from Braden Bishop and an intentional walk to Jayce Ray, singles from Andrew Ely and Pehl drove in one run apiece. A Camporeale sacrifice fly brought home another to make it 6-1.

In the ninth, the Zags rallied to bring the tying run to the on-deck circle as Mitchell Gonsolus singled and scored on a two-out single from Marco Gonzales. However, Tyler Davis, who had come on to begin the eighth, got a flyout to end the game.

Gonzaga starter Derek Callahan (2-2) took the loss, allowing three runs over five and two-thirds innings. Clayton Eslick had three hits to lead the Zags. Pehl was the lone Husky with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3.

The Huskies and Bulldogs play again Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (not new game time). The UW returns home this weekend for a three-game series vs. California.
