2014:
Had a fantastic close to his final season, setting a PR in what could have been his final race at Pac-12s to earn his first trip to NCAA West Prelims and nearly making it to nationals … in the 800-meter prelims at Pac-12s, he broke the 1:50 mark for the first time, going 1:49.64 to make the final and get a West Prelims qualifier … took seventh in the Pac-12 final to score for the first time … at NCAA West Prelims, took fourth in his first round heat in 1:50.26 to advance to the quarterfinals … went under 1:50 again in the quarterfinals, running 1:49.74 to finish 16th overall, four places short of advancing, in his final Husky race … was part of Washington’s victorious 4x800-meter relay at the Drake Relays as the team posted a 7:18.50 … lowered his 1,500-meters PR to 3:47.07 at the Oregon Relays … won the Ken Shannon Invite 1,500-meters in 3:50.04 … opened his season with a second-place 800-meters run of 1:51.55 at the Trojan Invitational … fifth in the 800m at the UW-WSU Dual and fourth in the 1,500m.

2013:
One of the top 800-meter runners on the team, competing at the Pac-12 Championships and lowering his PRs outdoors and in … ran the 800m at Pac-12s, finishing 17th in the prelims … ran a personal-best time of 1:50.84 at the Pepsi Team Invitational to finish seventh in the 800m … third in the 800m at the UW-WSU Dual in 1:53.18 … third at the Ken Shannon Invite with a 1:51.60 … opened the outdoor season going 1:51.40 at the Trojan Invite, taking fourth … indoors, was 10th in the 800m at the MPSF Championships, crossing in 1:52.83 … also ran the 800m leg on the distance medley relay which took fifth at MPSFs in a season-best 9:44.27 … posted an indoor 800m best at the Husky Classic, going 1:51.96 … also had a PR in the mile at the UW Invitational, running 4:08.73 … earned honorable mention on the Pac-12 All-Academic Team.

2012:
Earned his first career All-America honor as part of UW's distance medley relay indoors which set a pair of school records ... ran the 800-meter leg on the DMR, also including Ryan Soberanis, Maurice McNeal, and Joey Bywater, which took 10th at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho, earning Second Team All-America status ... the DMR smashed its own school record at the Alex Wilson Invite at Notre Dame, running 9:31.68 to qualify for NCAAs ... previously the DMR took fourth at the MPSF Championships in a time of 9:35.06, which was a school record at the time ... also indoors, ran a season-best 800m time of 1:52.27 at the Alex Wilson Invite and a mile best of 4:11.50 at the UW Invitational ... outdoors, he ran at the Pac-12 Championships at 800-meters, clocking a season-best time of 1:51.77 to take 10th overall ... also ran 1:51.82 at the UW-WSU Dual to take fourth ... earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.

2011: Made a lot of progress during the outdoor season, running under 1:52 in the 800-meters very consistently ... competed at his first Pac-10 Championships at 800-meters, placing 13th in a time of 1:51.30 ... set a new PR of 1:51.20 at the UW-WSU dual, placing fifth ... sixth at the Oregon Relays in 1:51.39 ... started the outdoor season with a then-PR of 1:51.94 at the Stanford Invite ... second in the 1500m at the Ken Shannon Invite in 3:55.12 ... indoors, posted a season-best of 1:52.64 in the Husky Classic 800m ... 15th in the 800m at the MPSF Championships in 1:54.03 ... earned a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.

2010: Competed at three indoor meets, starting with the UW Indoor Preview where he took fourth in the 600-meter run in 1:22.37 ... twice ran with the 4x400m relay and ran on one DMR ... finished his first 800-meters in 1:56.69 at the Husky Classic ... competed unattached at two outdoor meets, redshirting the season ... fifth at the WWU Twilite Meet in the 800m at 1:57.16.

High School and Personal: Born in Spokane, Wash. ... parents are Cathy and Mark Whitley ... has two older sisters, Lara and Lindsay ... a three-time 4A state qualifier, competing in the 400m, 800m, and 4x400m relay ... placed third at state in the 800-meters as a junior in 2008, and was seventh as a senior in 2009 ... won the Greater Spokane League 800m title in 2008 ... anchored the state champion 4x400m relay team in 2008 and also ran on 4x4 relays placing sixth and fourth at state in his first two years ... first team All-League for three years ... placed fifth in the 800m at the 2008 USATF National Jr. Olympics in Omaha, Neb. ... won the 800-meters at the 2008 Pasco Invite ... took fourth in the 800m at the Golden West Invite in Sacramento as a junior ... also lettered three years in basketball and was a captain as a junior and senior ... played three years of football and was a two-time All-League defensive back ... earned the Greater Spokane League Scholar Athlete Award in 2009 ... graduated with a 3.96 GPA.
