2015 All-America Second Team (Javelin)
2015: A breakout season that culminated with a ninth-place finish at his first NCAA Championships, earning Second Team All-America honors ... at NCAAs in Eugene, threw 229-9, the second-best mark of his career, to finish ninth by just one inch ... earned a spot at the U.S. Outdoor Championships where he was 17th at 213-11 ... came up with back-to-back huge career-bests first at the Pac-12 Championships and again at the NCAA West Prelims ... at the Pac-12 meet, had an eight-foot PR of 225-3 to finish in third-place, a career-best finish ... on his first throw at West Prelims, hit another big PR of 238-8, which would wind up third-place overall, and tied for the No. 5 mark in school history ... also had a toss of 227-3 on his second throw at West Prelims ... prior to Pac-12s, his season-best was 217-2 in the season opener at the Baldy Castillo Invite ... threw 208-0 to take third at the UW-WSU Dual.
2014: Had an impressive season returning from Tommy John surgery on his elbow, as he scored at the Pac-12 Championships and finished just one spot short of advancing to his first NCAA Championships … at NCAA West Prelims, he finished 13th, one spot short of the advancing top-12, as he threw 213-4 … took seventh at the Pac-12 Championships, with a best toss of 214-2 … first meet back was the Stanford Invitational, and he had a season-best mark of 217-4 … fifth in the javelin at the UW-WSU Dual, throwing 211-6.
2013: Redshirted the season while recovering from elbow surgery.
2012: Impressive freshman season as one of four men's javelin throwers who reached the NCAA West Prelim Championships ... had a season-best throw of 218-feet, 6-inches at the Beach Invitational, where he finished fourth ... scored at the Pac-12 Championships in his first appearance, placing seventh with a toss of 208-3 ... NCAA West Prelims in Austin was his shortest toss of the season, at 193-10, but still placed 32nd ... was fourth at the UW-WSU Dual in a top-four Husky sweep, throwing 212-6 ... went 214-7 at the Pepsi Team Invitational, finishing fourth ... UW debut at the Trojan Invite, finishing fifth with a 207-4 throw.
High School and Personal: Born in Seattle ... parents are Norma and Davin Clauson ... has one older sister, Danielle, who competed in basketball and track at the NAIA level ... an outstanding all-around athlete that is also one of the best pure javelin prospects in the nation ... won every local meet he entered in the javelin as a junior and senior, including winning the 1A state title three years in a row from 2009-2011 ... ranked 12th nationally as a senior in 2011 with a best mark of 208-0 and was 13th nationally in 2010 with a PR of 212-9 ½ set in the Washington State Multi-Event Championships ... placed third overall in the decathlon at that 2010 state multi-event meet with 5,784 points in his first full decathlon ... collected a total of nine individual 1A state titles over his career, three in the javelin, three in the 300m hurdles, two in the long jump, and one in the triple jump ... set a new long jump PR in winning state his senior year, going 23-4 ¼ which was fourth-best in the state at any level ... threw over 200-feet at six meets his senior season ... placed sixth in the javelin at the 2011 U.S. Junior Track Championships, throwing 203-1 ... was undefeated in 2010 and 2011 in the 300-meter hurdles with a top time of 38.95 seconds ... competed at 2010 USATF Junior Olympics in the javelin, placing third overall with a toss of 197-feet ... helped King's to the state team title all four years of his career ... also lettered in football from 2009-11.
