2013: Tough junior season saw him hampered by nagging injuries and then eventually a significant achilles injury ended his year in April … at the Mt. SAC Relays, ran on the 4x100m relay which was fourth in 40.25 seconds … also ran a 21.75 in the 200m at Mt. SAC, and ran on the 4x1 relay at Stanford … indoors, showed a lot of promise early in the season, as he opened with a meet record for 600-meters at the UW Indoor Preview, clocking 1:17.74 … had the best 400m time by a Husky indoors or out at the Husky Classic, where he ran 47.12 seconds … ran on the 4x400m relay at the Husky Classic, which posted the best time of the season, 3:11.50.
2012: Another excellent season as the top quarter-miler on the squad and one of the best in the Pac-12 ... had to overcome mid-season surgery to repair a sports hernia during the outdoor season, missing more than a month of action and returning in late April for the UW-WSU Dual ... still went on to place third in the 400m finals of the Pac-12 Championships, running a season-best 46.59 seconds ... also scored on both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays at Pac-12s, with the 4x1 placing fourth and the 4x4 placing fifth ... advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the 400-meters, finishing 20th overall in the quarters in 46.95 seconds ... as the third leg of the 4x100m relay, he and Sam Rucker, James Alaka, and Ryan Hamilton advanced to the NCAA semifinals in Des Moines, Iowa, grabbing the 12th and final qualifying spot with a season-best time of 39.98 seconds in Austin, a time that ranks 10th in school history ... the 4x100m relay finished 19th overall in Iowa, running 40.09, earning All-America honorable mention ... also qualified for NCAA West Prelims with the 4x400m relay, which wound up 21st in 3:11.73 ... his first race back from the hernia injury was a 400m victory at the UW-WSU Dual, winning in 47.15 seconds ... the 4x100m relay also ran a quick 40.13 time to take second at the Trojan Invitational ... had a great indoor season, earning All-America Second Team honors as part of UW's distance medley relay, which placed 10th at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho ... ran the 400m leg on the DMR, which also featured Ryan Soberanis, Brad Whitley, and Joey Bywater; the group broke the school record two times, once in a fourth-place MPSF Championships finish (9:35.06) and again at the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame in 9:31.68 ... third at the MPSF meet in the 400-meters, running an indoor PR of 46.69 seconds, which ranks fourth in school history ... also ran on fifth-place 4x400m relay at MPSFs, going 3:10.64, the No. 8 time on the indoor top-10 list ... clocked 21.40 seconds in his only indoor 200-meter run, but that put him up to No. 5 on the indoor top-10.
2011: An outstanding freshman season saw him earn All-America Second Team honors as part of the 4x100-meter relay, and All-America honorable mention in the 400-meter dash ... broke the freshman school record, previously held by Ja'Warren Hooker, in the 400-meters, when he ran 45.60 in the prelims of the Pac-10 Championships, also ranking him third overall in school history ... made the NCAA Outdoor Championship semifinals, advancing to Des Moines, and finishing 21st overall with a time of 46.26 in the semis ... fifth at the Pac-10 Championships at 400-meters (46.23) and fifth at 200-meters (21.03), and ran lead-off on the 4x100m relay which took third in a time of 39.62, fifth-fastest in school history ... top time of 45.60 ranked 12th nationally heading to NCAAs ... played a crucial role in the Husky win over Washington State, as he won the 400-meters in 46.63, led off the winning 4x1 (39.93), took second at 200-meters in a season-best 21.02, and ran a strong leg on the second-place 4x4 relay in a season-best 3:11.20 ... 4x100m relay placed 16th in the semis at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, clocking 39.86, with McNeal leading off ... took third in his first outdoor 400-meters at the Mt. SAC Relays, running 46.86 ... competed at just two meets indoors, placing 12th in the 400-meters and fourth in the 4x400m relay in 3:12.17 at the MPSF Championships.
High School and Personal: Born in Dubuque, Iowa ... parents are Bonnie and Stephen McNeal ... the oldest of five brothers, followed by Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Malachi ... has one older sister, Dominique ... as a senior for Federal Way, anchored the Washington 4A state championship 4x400-meter relay team, which set the Washington state record with a time of 3:15.26 in the prelims ... younger brother Ezekiel was also a part of the 4x4 record-setting team ... second at state as a senior at 400-meters and seventh at 200-meters ... attended Tacoma Baptist his first three seasons, dominating the 2B state level with state titles at 100-, 200-, and 400-meters as both a sophomore and junior ... did not lose a 400-meter race as a sophomore and junior ... also took fifth at state in the long jump as a junior ... won the SPSL league title and district title at 400-meters as a senior ... also lettered all four years in soccer, as Tacoma Baptist won state titles in 2008 and 2009.
