2015: Returned to the track and made quick gains, setting a PR in the 100-meter hurdles and making her first Pac-12 Championships final … ran a career-best 13.91 seconds for the 100m hurdles in the Pac-12 prelims in Los Angeles, qualifying for the final, but suffered an injury in the final to finish ninth in 15.20 seconds … the 13.91 PR ranks her No. 8 in UW history … also ran a wind-aided 13.91 seconds at the UW-WSU Dual to finish second … won the 100m hurdles at the Ken Shannon Invitational in 14.19 seconds … first 100m hurdles race in two years was at the Pepsi Team Invitational where she placed sixth in 14.87 … ran 14.47 seconds for the hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays ... did not compete during the indoor season.
2014: Redshirted the season coming back from an injury … competed two times unattached during the indoor season … finished 13th in the 60m hurdles at the Husky Classic in 8.95 seconds.
2013: Finished her season with a flourish, cutting several tenths of a second off her 100m hurdles PR over the final two meets to break onto the UW top-10 list … lowered her PR in the hurdles to 14.01 seconds at the Pac-12 Championships at USC, finishing 13th overall, and moving to No. 9 in school history … that came just a week after a win at the Ken Shannon Invitational, where she ran 14.14 seconds, just slightly wind-aided … prior to that, her previous top hurdles time was 14.41 seconds run at the Mt. SAC Relays … was fourth in the short hurdles at the UW-WSU Dual in 14.50 seconds … clocked 14.51 seconds for sixth in the hurdles at the Pepsi Team Invitational … indoors, set another big PR in the 60-meter hurdles at the MPSF Championships, as she took 12th in 8.88 seconds, her first time under nine seconds … ran 9.00 seconds in the 60m hurdles at the Husky Classic, 16th overall.
2012: Ran the short hurdles in her first season, leading the team indoors in the 60m hurdles ... ran under nine seconds in the 60m hurdles three times indoors, with a best of 8.90 at the UW Final Qualifier ... outdoors, ended the season with a PR, running 14.51 seconds at the Oregon Twilight Meet to finish fourth ... fifth at the UW-WSU Dual in the 100m hurdles, clocking 14.78 despite a strong headwind ... eighth at the Pepsi Team Invitational with a hurdles time of 14.69.
High School and Personal: Born in Seattle ... parents are Diane Sophusson and Melvin Smith ... has one older brother, William Steinke, and an older sister, Jordan Jackson ... her mother is a Washington alum ... she captured the Washington State 3A title in the 100-meter hurdles in 2011, running 14.50 into a headwind in the finals which was the fastest across all divisions ... also swept Metro League and District 2 titles in the 100-meter hurdles ... set a major personal-best at districts, when she ran 14.00 in the prelims ... also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash finals at state as a senior, and fourth as the anchor of the 4x100-meter relay and second as the anchor of the 4x200-meter relay ... competed at the 2011 USA Junior Championships, finishing 17th in the 100m hurdles in 14.60 seconds ... was fourth at state in the 100m hurdles as a junior in 2010, and eighth at state as a sophomore ... ran lead-off on third-place 4x100m relay team at state as a junior ... also competed as a multi-event athlete her first few seasons, even completing a decathlon in 2010 ... fifth in the heptathlon at 2010 Junior Olympic Regionals with a score of 3,905 points and was second in the Washington State decathlon competition with 5,320 points ... had a triple jump of 35-8 to place second at the Metro League meet in 2011 ... an accomplished gymnast as well, competing at state all four years and placing seventh at state in the vault in 2010 and eighth in the vault in 2011 ... also was on the cheer team for three years and was a two-year captain and an All-State cheerleader in 2009.
