2014: Once again the top high jumper on the squad in his final season as he scored at Pac-12s and advanced to a fourth NCAA West Prelims … at the Pac-12 Championships in Pullman, he cleared 6-11 to finish fourth overall and add five team points … final meet was at NCAA West Prelims, where he cleared a best of 6-9 ½ to finish in 30th-place … had one of his most clutch jumps in the UW-WSU Dual Meet, as he sat in second place with one attempt left before clearing 7-0 ¼ to secure the victory … indoors, was the runner-up in the high jump at the MPSF Championships with a make of 6-11 … raised his indoor PR to 7-2 ¼ with a victory at the Husky Classic, as he entered the competition at that height and cleared it … that jump moved him to fourth on the UW indoor top-10 list … finished tied for 18th in the NCAA indoors with that 7-2 ¼ mark … also made the seven-foot mark at the UW Invitational, finishing third with a best of 7-0 ¼ … earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team, and was a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team selection.
2013: Another strong season in the high jump for the junior, as he advanced to NCAA West Prelims … just missed scoring at the Pac-12 Championships, as he placed ninth with a best clearance of 6-11 … cleared seven-feet twice on the year, including a season-best jump of 7-1 to take second behind teammate Jeremy Taiwo at the UW-WSU Dual … also cleared 7-0 ¼ at the Trojan Invitational … tied for 25th at West Prelims in Austin, with a best of 6-9 ½ … raised his indoor PR to 6-11 ¾ at the Husky Classic, where he was the overall winner … sixth in the UW Final Qualifier with a clearance of 6-11 … jumped 6-9 at the MPSF Championships, tying for ninth-place … made the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team … also named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2012: Enjoyed a big breakthrough during the outdoor season, qualifying for his first NCAA Outdoor Championships and finishing as the runner-up at the Pac-12 Championships in the high jump ... entering the outdoor season, he had yet to clear the seven-foot mark, but he got that at the first outdoor meet, winning the Trojan Invitational at 7-0 ¼ ... was not among the favorites at the Pac-12 meet, but had a great series with first attempt clearances at four of five bars, including a first try make of a new PR of 7-1 ½, to finish in a two-way tie for second-place ... two weeks later at the NCAA West Prelims in Austin, Texas, he got back to his PR of 7-1 ½ with a third-attempt make to stay alive, but would need a new PR yet again to get top-12 and advance to the finals in Iowa; Maricich delivered, clearing 7-2 ½ to place fourth and move on ... that ranks him third on the Husky all-time top-10 list ... did not have his best day at NCAAs in Des Moines, but still cleared 6-10 ¾ to finish 23rd, earning All-America honorable mention ... earlier in the outdoor season he also won the UW-WSU Dual with a 6-11 jump, and was fourth at the Pepsi Team Invitational at 6-8 ... indoors, he twice cleared 6-11 ½, once at the Husky Classic and again at the MPSF Championships where he finished sixth ... also earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2011: Strong first season in the high jump saw the freshman qualify for the NCAA West Prelim Championships in Eugene, where he tied for 28th overall with a clearance of 6-feet, 7-inches ... tied for 15th at the Pac-10 Championships in Tucson, clearing 6-9 ... season-best outdoor clearance of 6-10 ¾ came at the Mt. SAC Relays, placing him fifth ... was fifth at the Pepsi Team Invite with a high jump of 6-8 ... indoors, tied for the seventh-best high jump clearance in school history with his jump of 6-11 ½ at the Husky Classic, finishing fourth ... tied for fifth at the MPSF Championships, scoring for UW with a clearance of 6-10 ¼ ... also took sixth at the UW Invitational with a jump of 6-9.
High School and Personal: Born in Mount Vernon, Washington ... parents are Christine and Michael Maricich ... the youngest of five children after Joshua, Marisa, Christina, and Marija ... a two-time Washington 4A State Champion in the high jump, taking the title in 2010 and 2008 ... captured the title his senior year with a clearance of 7-feet even, helping Mead win the team title ... took the district title in 2010 with a 6-10 clearance ... the runner-up in the high jump at the 2010 Arcadia Invite with a 6-11 jump ... competed at UW's Dempsey in 2010 at the Indoor Open Meet, winning with a 6-10 ¾ clearance ... won the 2008 Washington 4A state title in the high jump with a 6-8 clearance ... won the 2009 4A CBBN/GSL Regional Meet where he cleared 7-feet even for the first time in his career ... his seven-foot clearance ranked him in a tie for the eighth-best clearance by a prep in the nation in 2009 ... third at state in 2009 though his 6-10 clearance matched the winner's height ... won the 2009 Pasco Invitational high jump with a clearance of 6-8 ... graduated with a 3.7 grade point average.
