2014-15 (Sophomore): Appeared in three matches this season, going 2-1 overall in the five spot…earned back-to-back wins against Seattle University’s Gus Orlando (6-3, 6-3) and Brian Nguyen (6-0, 6-2)…teamed with Farkas, Raman and Douglas in doubles play…played a majority of matches with Douglas, going 5-3…all five wins came against Pac-12 opponents near the end of the season, defeating teams from No. 6 USC, No. 33 California, Utah and Oregon…contributed seven wins overall to the Huskies’ season in both singles and doubles.   

2013-14 (Freshman): Appeared only in doubles play for this season, competing with both Michael Chamerski and Daffra Sanon… finished with a 9-9 record while paired with Chamerski, competing at all three spots…dominated four back to back Pac-12 opponents including No. 5 UCLA’s Brymer/McDonald (8-2), No. 1 USC’s deVroome/Johnson (7-6(5-3)), Arizona’s James/Thompson (6-3), and No. 43 Stanford’s Goldberg/Paige (8-7)… the duo fell short of Sardu/Amos of Oregon (8-4) in the first round of the Pac-12 championship on April 23…also paired with Sanon, the duo appeared in two matches, finishing with a record of 1-1, picking up their defeat from Eastern Washington, against Bendjelti/Bringold (7-4).

Born in Kirkland, Washington ... parents are Darlene and Masahito Watanabe ... has one younger brother, Spencer, and two younger sisters, Abbey and Rosie ... mother, Darlene, is a UW graduate ... rated a three-star recruit by and achieved a national rank of No. 112 his senior year ... rankings rise evidenced by his yearly highs on, as he was No. 379 for his age group in 2009, then No. 207 in 2010, No. 199 in 2011, and No. 112 in 2012 ... finished 2011 ranked No. 5 in the USTA Pacific Northwest junior rankings and was ranked No. 1 in the section ... ranked in the top-100 for doubles by the USTA for ages 14, 16, and 18 ... playing with his brother, Spencer, made the 2012 junior sectional doubles final, and reached the semis in singles ... the runner-up in the 2012 Washington state junior championships, and won the doubles title with his brother ... member of the boys 18s National Team, and 12 and 14 USTA Zonal Teams ... helped coach junior players at Central Park Tennis Club and Newport Hills Swim & Tennis Club ... coached by former Husky assistant Gordon O'Reilly.
