TEMPE, Ariz. - It was a huge night for the No. 22 GymDawgs at Arizona State as the Huskies posted their highest road score of 2013 and second highest of the season in a 196.000-195.500 victory over the No. 27 Sun Devils.
"Scoring a 196 and getting the win on the road was huge for us," said head coach Joanne Bowers. "I'm most proud of the team picking each other up after some stumbles on each event. The team showed a lot of toughness tonight and desire to do well."
Senior Lauren Rogers (Plains, Pa.) once again broke her career-best in the all-around with a 39.375 on her way to winning fourth such title on the year. She also won the vault with a 9.850 and bars with a career-high 9.875 and tied her career-high on beam of 9.800. It was her first bars title of the season and third vault title.
"Lauren continues to do a phenomenal job," Bowers said. "Her AA score keeps going up every week."
Freshman Allison Northey (Sammamish, Wash.) tied her career-high on bars with a 9.850 to tie for third. She also placed third on vault.
Junior Aliza Vaccher (Eugene, Ore.) tied her season-high on beam with a 9.825 while placing second at the meet. She tied with Rogers for third on floor with a 9.850.
Also on floor, sophomore McKenzie Fechter (Mequon, Wis.) tied her season-best with a 9.825.
Next up the Huskies have a bye week and then will head to Oregon State for a tri-meet with Sacramento State on March 9 at 7 p.m.
