Final Stats

LOS ANGELES -- A career night from Jazmine Davis was not enough as Washington (10-4, 2-1) fell on the road at USC (6-8, 3-0), 81-72. Davis poured in 37 points, but the Trojans had the answers, dominating the boards and shooting a high percentage from 3-point range.

The 37 points from Davis was just six shy of Giuliana Mendiola's school record and fifth-best all-time. She finished 12-28 from the field, 6-15 from 3-point range and 7-11 from the line.

Unfortunately, the career night came in a losing effort as the Dawgs allowed 25-3 run in the first half to let USC to build a big lead. Washington led 12-4 early, but then gave up the massive run to trail by 14 with 5:45 to play in the second half.

Washington closed the half well as Davis got it going, finishing with 17 points at the break. Talia Walton chipped in nine points and seven rebounds, but the Dawgs trailed 38-31.

USC made 7-15 3-pointers in the half, including 5-7 from Ariya Crook.

After halftime, UW came out renewed and began clawing away at the Trojan lead. Davis continued her hot shooting and aggressive nature, seeming to match every USC bucket with one of her own.

USC made 10-23 from 3-point range, including a couple just as it appeared the Huskies would regain the lead. Kristi Kingma did tie the game at 61-61 with a 3, but UW never got closer.

In the end, the Dawgs couldn't get enough stops and failed to execute offensively to overcome the deficit in the final minutes.

Walton finished with 15 points, while Kingma had eight. The Huskies were outrebounded 53-38 and gave up too many second chances as the Trojans grabbed 18 offensive rebounds.

Washington will now regroup for another tough test, facing No. 14 UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Bruins defeated Washington State on Friday to improve to 3-0 in conference and 12-2 overall.
