Dawgs Fall To No. 18 California

BERKELEY, Calif. -- No. 31 Washington fell to No. 18 California on Saturday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Dawgs lost to an elite Pac-12 team for the second-straight day, 7-0.

Washington lost the doubles point with Andjela Nemcevic and Julija Lukac falling at the No. 3 spot, 8-5. The point was clinched when Natali Coronel and Grace Ysidora fell at No. 2, 8-7 (4).

In singles, Nemcevic fell at the No. 1 spot to eighth-ranked Anett Schutting, 6-1, 6-1. She dropped to 2-2 on the season since moving to the No. 1 singles spot.

Also losing in straight sets were Elianne Douglas-Miron and Lukac to clinch the match for Cal. Douglas-Miron fell to No. 117 Klara Fabikova, 6-3, 6-3, while Lukac dropped her match to Talyer Davis, 6-3, 6-3.

The Dawgs would go on to lose all six singles matches, although Ysidora did get to a third set in her match, before falling to No. 49 Lynn Chi, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Up next for the Dawgs is a trip to Eugene to take on Oregon. Washington continues Pac-12 on Friday, March 15, at noon when they take on the Ducks.
