No. 10/10 Oregon 12,
March 28 - Seattle, Wash. - Husky Softball Stadium
SEATTLE - Oregon came to Seattle and looked like the No. 10/10 team in the nation, handing the No. 16/15 Huskies their first softball home loss of 2013, 12-1 on Thursday night.
Oregon (27-4, 4-0) took an early 1-0 lead in the second on a two-run home run by Janelle Lindvall.
Washington (24-9, 2-2) fought right back to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Junior Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.) drew a walk to lead off the inning and a bloop single by junior Hooch Fagaly (Chino, Calif.) drove her in.
The Ducks really got their offense going in the fifth with four runs off of Husky starter Kaitlin Inglesby. The junior from Portland, Ore., allowed five runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings of work.
Two singles, a two-run home run and back-to-back doubles helped Oregon put up a big number on the board in the inning.
Oregon added seven more runs in the top of the seventh on a sac fly, an RBI single, a two-RBI single and a three run home run.
Sophomore Kasey Stanchek (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) pitched the final 2.0 innings for the Huskies and allowed seven runs on eight hits.
