TUSCON, Ariz. - A three spot in the second and four more runs in the fifth gave the No. 17/17 UW softball team (23-7, 1-0) a 7-1 victory in the 2013 Pac-12 opener at No. 16/22 Arizona (20-9, 0-1) on Saturday night.

Sophomore Kimberlee Souza (Waialua, Hawai'i) hit her first of two home runs on the day leading off the second inning. A double by junior Whitney Jones (Upland, Calif.) drove in two as Marki Creger-Zier and Jennie McNeill scored after reaching on a single and a double.

In the fifth, junior Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.) led off the inning with a triple to center field. A sac fly to center drove in Hayward off the bat of Jones.

After a walk by junior Kylee Lahners (Laguna Hills, Calif.), Souza hit a three-run home run.

Chelsea Goodacre homered in the sixth for the lone run of the game for the Wildcats.

Junior Bryana Walker (La Quinta, Calif.) pitched two hitless innings in relief.
