SEATTLE – The University of Washington announced the inductees to the 2016 Husky Hall of Fame class today. The new class will be inducted at a ceremony on October 23.
SEATTLE – Student-athletes at the University of Washington continue to perform well in the classroom, according to the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) data tracked by the NCAA. The data, which was released today, indicated that the program average APR rate for Washington athletics rose to 989, marking the sixth consecutive year that the average rate has risen.

Over the past three years, the Intercollegiate Athletics Purple Passports Program has sent student athletes to French Polynesia three times and Japan twice. This year, the Huskies are headed to Rome. Five student athletes – Kyle Coffee (men's soccer), Ivan Piton (rowing), Brittany Porter (women's soccer), Justin Schmidt (men's soccer) and Shannon Simon (women's soccer) – along with four other Washington students leave Sunday to spend 12 days abroad in a pilot program called Classics Rome: Sport and Spectacle.

For the second straight year, the University of Washington co-ed cheer team will compete at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National Championship on January 15-17 at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The cheer squad will compete in the Division 1A Coed semifinals against 21 other teams, taking the stage on Saturday, January 16 at 2:18p.m. PT / 5:18p.m. ET.
