Schneider To Be Inducted Into NRF Hall of Fame

Class of 1995 graduate Marcus Schneider will be inducted into the National Rowing Foundation Hall of Fame as part of the 1996 Olympic Bronze medal lightweight men's four. The 2016 induction class includes six boats, all of which won Olympic medals.

The National Champion UW men's crew will finish up fall competition on Nov. 8 on its home course, as the Huskies will participate in the Head of the Lake. The three mile course starts in Lake Union, crosses Portage Bay, runs through the Montlake Cut and finishes in Lake Washington. Racing begins at 8 a.m. PT.

UW men's crew head coach Michael Callahan has named Niles Garratt as his second assistant coach, a promotion from his graduate assistant position Garratt held last year. The Huskies have also added intern assistants Kristen Brownlee and Alex Mann.

Rowing as part of the historically dominant U.S women's eight, Huskies Kerry Simmonds and Katelin Snyder helped the U.S. win its 10th straight world championship as the duo became the third and fourth UW alumni to win gold at the 2015 Senior World Championships.
